Here is a comparison of the two so you can decide which mp3 player storage style is best for you. Flash mp3 players Flash memory (non-volatile memory) means any information or music stored on it is less accessible to loss. All data is stored on chips which means even turned off you wont loose data. With non-moving parts it is great for the active person and you wont be worried about skipping or jogging of the music. The memory size is not as big as its counter part but does have its own benefits. Flash memory players are small and lightweight so for using them on your daily commute or music on your daily run you just put them in your pocket or off a neck chain and have more than enough music on it. Hard Drive mp3 players This type of storage is for the serious person who would like to have all their cd collection on one storage device. The hard drive units tend to have more storage space. Some jukeboxes even offer up to 60 GB storage. The music hard drive is basically the same as your computer and laptop storage technology. The reliability of the hard drive isnt the same as the flash players the hard disk drivers have many spinning parts and memory is based on magnetic technology. This would mean a serious hit or drop could damage your music on your player. No memory source is all 100% safe from loss just keep your music backed up even if its on the original cd.
