Boost Your Business with RV Storage

By Dean Brown

There are more than 30 million RVs on America's highways, and one out of six households without an RV said that they would be interested in purchasing one in the future. That's a lot of RVs on the road.

Unfortunately, as interest in RVs is growing, places to store them are shrinking. Many cities and towns have passed ordinances against bulky objects being visible from city streets, and that makes it illegal to have RVs parked on streets or in driveways. Such ordinances have many RV owners crying foul.

However, if you have self-storage steel and metal buildings and have been looking to expand, then you could be the answer to RV owners prayers. If youre considering RV storage, here are a few things to keep in mind.

All the convenience of home storage, and none of the hassles

RVs are extremely pricey toys, and that means youll have to offer your customers a lot of peace of mind before theyll agree to keep it in your care. Protection and security will be two of the biggest issues. Offering closed storage units means that youll be able to keep the RVs safe from the elements, like wind, rain, hail and sun. Plus, a steel or metal building gives far more protection to an expensive vehicle than the typical home protection measures of covering it up with a tarp.

For security, having cameras, keypads and a guard will go a long way to showing your customers that youre willing to do what it takes to keep their RVs safe.

If theyre worried about being able to access their RV any time they want, advertise 24-hour access to your site. Emphasize that they wont lose convenience by storing their RV with you, rather than in front of their house. In face, you can even offer other services like cleaning, charging the battery and warming it up for them. That way, they can spend less time on RV maintenance and more time on having fun, which is actually more convenient than keeping it at home.

Partner up

If you have doubts as to the ability of your advertising to bring in new RV clients, just look to RV dealers for a partnership. By teaming up, you could offer a discount to people who buy their RVs at a certain dealer, and the dealer will have yet another salable feature to pitch to his or her customers.

Of course, its best to make sure youre partnering with a reputable dealer. If they dont treat their clients well, chances are that reputation could rub off on you.

Rollin, rollin, rollin

With 30 million RVs on the road and counting, the storage problem is only going to get worse. RV owners are going to need somewhere to store their vehicles, and theyll be willing to pay well and on time for it. Plus, since they intend to keep their RVs around for years and years, theyll need storage for years and years to come.

If youve been thinking about expanding your facility, help the RV owners in your area by offering RV storage.
