What is the best way to store paintings?Answered By Abe Stevenson If the wall is not an option for you then you must first contact a vault storage company that handles storage of work of arts. If you want to make sure that the environment for your paintings is stable, check with them about the insurance. Make sure to get some references. Placing them in a non-climate controlled self-storage facilities is not recommended. You need to remember that environmental changes will have an effect on the stored contents- some could be harmful. Or... Find an area where there are few changes in temperature and humidity, preferably in a closet, not in an attic, garage or in the basement unless these areas are temperature controlled. Wrap what is needed to be stored. If it is framed, bubble wrap is recommended or storage blanket and seal it with packing tape. Find a room and place for the paintings.
